How to Catch Santa by Jean Reagan and Lee Wildish is such a fun read and perfect for children who believe. Filled with colorful images it explores how to catch Santa on Christmas Eve. What will you do if you catch him? Do you have questions? It shares how to listen for Santa and how to hunt for clues that he has been there For example, add glitter to a letter you leave for Santa, or place carrots outside for the reindeer. The book is for readers ages 4 to 8 but is perfect for reading to the little ones this holiday season. The colorfully illustrated images will hold their attention and giggles are sure to ensue. Geared to spark the imagination it is sure to lead to questions and a fun family discussion. I would not be surprised if this became a family favorite. Sure to bring delight!

This is a great step by step description of all the best ways and tricks to catch ol' St. Nick!

Told in an informal, "how-to" style, two kids give us some great things to think about such as "What questions would you ask Santa if/when you catch him?" Would you want to give him anything (a nose warmer for cold sleigh rides, for example)? There are also some ideas on how you might be able to capture the jolly old man- give him a really tricky riddle so he has to wake you up to get the answer or bake him cookies and leave them in your room.

I love the young, innocent, and excited voice that this book uses. It is sure to bring delight to young and old alike (and will no doubt inspire some Santa catching in your household).

Couldn't make myself finish it

I've never read anything by Barton before, but I figured that between the success of her writing and the intriguing synopsis, this one would be an easy winner. Not so at all.

The general plot sounded great. Woman is cheated on by her fiance, finds herself attracted to another man, and that other man turns out to be her fiance's brother. There's so much potential for drama and emotion, and I really wanted to see it all play out. Unfortunately, it started off very shaky, and when the two-dimensional characters all came into play, it just got worse.

Mary Beth is your typical good girl, and she's engaged to a selfish jerk. He cheats on her at their engagement party, and she finds a sympathetic stranger to talk to, someone she's instantly attracted to despite her broken heart and confusion about her future. Said stranger is Parr, brother to her awful fiance, but he's not bright enough to realize that the crying fiancee he's talking to at an engagement party is his brother's woman. And when he does? Doesn't matter. He's angry at his brother and wants to win the girl. Worse than those three are the parents, all of whom seem more interested in marrying off their mismatched, unhappy children than supporting them. Parr's mother actually asks him to intercede and help the broken couple patch things up, and Mary Beth is just enough of a doormat to try to look past her fiance's cheating.

I had high hopes for this one, but I realized rather quickly that I wasn't going to enjoy reading it. I'm used to some contrived drama and even a few cardboard cut-out characters in romances, but this was just too much. When the set-up is so thin, the characters so oblivious, and I end up not liking any of them enough to care what happens next, it's time to bail and find something else to read.

This is not the Beverly Barton I know. I have read several of her mystery books and have thoroughly enjoyed them. This book is not a mystery and not even a very good romance. I am trying to get through it, but find myself about ready to just delete it from my device and move on to something better. About the Author
Dr. Anthony C. Hackney is a Professor of Exercise Physiology & Nutrition at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. His research group studies how stress affects the hormonal responses of the endocrine system. In particular his focus is upon the dysfunctions and dysregulations that develop from stress exposures which can ultimately compromise physiological responses and adaptations. Dr. Hackney is an editor and author of the successful book Endocrinology of Physical Activity and Sport and has published over 200 peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters, given over 150 national and international scientific conference presentations, and has had current and previous research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, USAID, and the National Academy of Sciences. He is an Editorial Board member for five exercise science, sports medicine, and physiology journals; has done visiting professorships in Uruguay, Kosovo, Norway, New Zealand, Germany, and Estonia; and is on the Board of Directors of the Center for the Study of Retired Athletes, UNC-CH. A recipient of three Fulbright Scholar awards, he was named Fellow, American Academy of Kinesiology (2010), Montoye Research Scholar, the American College of Sports Medicine (2015), Fellow, Huffines Institute for Sports Medicine (2015), and Kean-Pogue Senior Research Scholar, University of North Carolina (2016), among other honors and awards.

Best of the best

I bought two other books on this subject. This one by far is the most outstanding, well written, easy to understand, in-depth and comprehensive of the three. I do recommend having your camera with you when you read this instructional manual. It covers so much material it's best to use the camera, as you follow the book. Easier to remember with a hands on approach. I don't think the writer missed any function of the Canon T5i.

This an excellent book not only to see the features of your camera but to use it on real situations with many advices to get excellent pictures. This book is a great value for your money, i bought other book about canon rebel t5 but is like just reading the manual. missing some things.JEFF REVELL give you a lot of very usefull information with details to get the maximum and manage your camera without complicated words.I was looking to buy another camera but because my budget finally bought this Canon rebel t5i . After reading this book im very happy with my purchase i found that i got a very good camera if you know how to use it with a lot of very good things, with the money i saved i bought acouple of lens and i look forward for another titles from this autor

The best book to take you through the Rebel t5i

The book Is excellent. The author explains the operation of the camera with good examples and provided settings he used in taking photos--good for understanding why various settings were used.

The topics were thorough, and the tips and tricks were informative. As a professional photographer, he shared his personal experiences which also were helpful.

Yes, I highly recommend this book.

Interesting, but could've used more band input

Apparently the author contacted Judas Priest's management, and they weren't interested in contributing to the book. Which is a shame, because the author has certainly made an effort to research the band members past, read up old interviews, and contact former members and people connected with the band, but it would've been a better book with first-hand insight from the band itself (like in the excellent "Run To The Hills" Iron Maiden bio).

The non-official status of the book does, however, mean that it can cover less flattering aspects of the band - like giving the author's opinion of what the bands weaker moments are (although, I've always found it somewhat annoying when someone writes a book on a band and then puts down some of their music which I think is excellent - this book doesn't do that too much, though), as well as stuff like the rumor the band had a second drummer hidden backstage during some 80s tours.
The book also covers a bit of the pre-history of the band - it was weird to read about the formation
of the band before any of the members who were on the debut album had joined yet!

So, if you like Judas Priest enough to want to read about them, this should do the trick, but it's not necesarily something that would interest someone not into the band.

Decent JP biography written without any support from the band

As a fairly new JP fan I was looking for a comprehensive history of the band from the beginning, as updated as possible. I chose this book because it appeared to be the most recent account. I am not able to judge on the accuracy or comprehensiveness of this book.

The book gives a chronological history of the band through different phases with respective protagonists, along with side projects and backgrounds on the most relevant people. It goes through the discography as the book moves forwards in time, and reviews the individual albums and songs. Big events in JP history are well covered in chapters of their own. "Peers" like Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden are covered underways, and supporting bands also. The author has gone a long way to get 1st hand accounts of people who have met with the band and the guys in it. There's plenty of photos and overviews on early tours, discography, guitar solo credits (for those unable to distinguish between KK and Glenns guitar play) and other stuff for JP geeks who are likely to read this book.
Overall, I got what I wanted.
On the downside, I was disappointed that JP was unsupportive of the biography, and that all current band member quotes are from interviews with the press, especially rock magazines. Still, the author did interview some of the guys as a reporter back in the days, and that is a plus. The book would also benefit from a small update, now that KK Downing is out and Richie Faulkner is in. Downing was among the oldest members and took part in their great commercial breakthrough, which makes his exit an important event in JP history. Richie is a very interesting new member of the band, and a similar "background check" on him would be a welcome read.

Overall, a good book. The lack of cooperation from the band and its management is a big minus, but the author has made the most of it and I hope he is collecting material for an updated edition.

Okay so reading this is like having a long conversation with someone who like me,is a huge Priest fan. Too many record reviews and too few facts. Did I learn from this book? Yes. But leave the personal opinions concerning the records to yourself. I'm okay with a general review but pages spent on the author's opinion of one record was just him wanking at best. I didnt hate it but I wouldn't recommend it.

Since his first novel won the Edgar Award in 1977 James Patterson's books have sold more than 300 million copies. He is the author of the Alex Cross novels, the most popular detective series of the past twenty-five years, including Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. He writes full-time and lives in Florida with his family.

Not a chapter book.

This is NOT a chapter book. It's more like an "activity" book. While my son is enjoying it, he was disappointed that he couldn't really read it like the others. I'll have to pay more attention to the descriptions I guess.

Surprise from James Patterson

Although I enjoy Patterson's adult mysteries, I was very much surprised to see that he writes such enjoyable books for the
middle school set. My grandson loved the book and I have already gotten him four more by Mr. Patterson, Et al.
Don't worry, this is not anything like his adult terror stories.

Perfect for 5th and 6th grade boys.

My 12 yr. old grandson has been reading this series for a couple of years. He loves them. His younger brother will be reading them soon. You don't have to bug them to read when they have this series They are a fun read.They also like Harry Potter as well. Start with the first one in the series. These books have been available for the last few years both on Amazon, Target and major book stores.
